Mudanjiang Medical University (MMU) was founded in 1958. The name of the University was inscribed by Guo Moruo, a famous historian in China. There are more than 10,000 full-time undergraduate students in our university. We provide fifteen degree level majors, such as Clinical Medicine, Science of Medical Imaging, Anesthesiology, Nursing, Pharmaceutics Engineering, Public Management, Preventive Medicine, Pharmacy, and etc. Science of Medical Imaging, Clinical Medicine, Anesthesiology and Medical Diagnostics are key majors in Heilongjiang Province. The major of science of Medical Imaging is the constructive base of the provincial and national characteristic major at the first level.

  　Our university recruits undergraduate students from 25 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. Preclinical Medicine and Biology which are two subjects in the first class, and Internal Medicine, Science of Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine are two subjects in the second class also are authorized as key provincial subjects. Human Anatomy, Histology and Embryology, Physiology, Pathology and Pathophysiology, Science of Medical Imaging and Diagnostics are six provincial exquisite curriculums. “Anti-fibrosis Biological Therapy ” and “Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine” are authorized as the key labs in Heilongjiang Province. And “Tissue Injury and Rehabilitation” and “Tumor Disease Prevention” are the key labs among institions of higher learning in Heilongjiang Province. We have built the Provincial Service Platform of Medical Biotechnology, the Research and Development Center of Technology Project between Academics and Businesses, and Mudanjiang Experimental Research Base of Developing Northern Medicine. Our university is classified as the provincial construction unit of the characteristic and application-oriented undergraduate colleges and universities.

  　There are over 2,300 working staff in our university, 550 of whom are professors or associate professors, and 71 of whom are Doctors, and 340 of whom are Masters. Three teachers are qualified as M.D. director, and forty-three teachers are as post graduate tutors. In our university, one expert is entitled to the honour of “Provincial Outstanding Teacher”, and two teaching teams are at the provincial level. Seventeen youth experts have been awarded the prize of “Special Contribution” in the provincial health system, and Eight are given the title of “Excellent Youth Expert of Mudanjiang City”.

  　Our university covers 725,000 square meters, with 317,000 square meters of constructed area. There are more than 1,000,000 books in our library. Our university has spent 170,000,000 RMB on purchasing all kinds of education and scientific equipment. The total value of fixed assets amounts to 600,000,000 RMB.

  　We have 8 attached hospitals with 6,116 beds. Two of them are Hongqi Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital under our immediate control, offering 2,000 beds, which have been awarded “Hospital of Grade 3 Level A” by the State. Forty-three hospitals, with 25,880 beds, are utilized for teaching and practice purposes.

  　Since 2007, teachers in our university have compiled 95 national -planning textbooks, 9 of which are Editor-in-Chief，and 16 of which are associate editor. We have undertaken 23 research projects of national level, 55 projects of provincial or ministerial levels, and 120 projects of office or bureau levels. 25 projects are award the prize of achievements in scientific research of provincial or ministerial levels. In 2009, 1 project was award  the Second Prize of national technical invention. More than 2400  scientific treatises have been published, over 150 of which are included in SCI or EI.

  　International communication and collaboration have been active in recent years. The College has already established friendly cooperative relations with Vladivostok State-Run Medical University of Russia,  Fatima University of Philippines, the Medical College of Seoul National University of Korea, and Inchon Medical University of Korea, strengthening cooperation in education, medical treatment, scientific research and academic communication fields.

  　Since its founding, our university has brought up over 30,000 graduates of medical and pharmic majors at different level, who have contributes greatly to developing the medical and public health undertakings of Heilongjiang Province and the whole country.
